Dr. James Currie, Provost and VP-Academic, is very pleased to announce that the new Dean of the Faculty of Education will be Dr. Laurie Hellsten — effective July 1, 2020.
Currently, Dr. Hellsten is the Graduate Chair in the Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education in the College of Education at the University of Saskatchewan. She is also a graduate of The University of Winnipeg.
Dr. Currie invites the UWinnipeg community to join in congratulating and welcoming Dr. Hellsten.
“These are exciting times for the Faculty of Education, and I greatly look forward to working with Laurie as she takes on the new challenges that this position entails,” said Dr. Currie.
Dr. Currie extends thanks to Dr. Ken McCluskey for his years of service and his contribution to the Faculty of Education and wishes him well in his future endeavors. He also extends thanks to Dr. John Anchan for his contribution as Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education.
Dr. Jan Stewart, Deputy Provost and Associate VP-Academic, will be the Acting Dean of Education for six months starting January 1, 2020.
