August 18 – 20, 2005
Oral history, including the collecting of oral tradition, has become a major research method of historians and other scholars as well as community activists and local historians in Canada and world-wide. This conference, presented by the University’s Department of History & Chair in German-Canadian Studies, seeks to bring these practitioners from various fields together to assess the state of oral history in Canada and the directions it may take in the future. Students, independent researchers, and professional academics from around North America present their research in three days of panels and practical workshops.
