WINNIPEG, MB – If you know a University of Winnipeg graduate who has made a difference you are encouraged to nominate them for The University of Winnipeg Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award. UWinnipeg’s Alumni Association honours alumni for outstanding contributions to their professions or their communities. Deadline for nominations is March 31, 2010. Established in 1990, the award is the Alumni association’s highest tribute.
Graduates of The University of Winnipeg, United College, Wesley College, and The University of Winnipeg Division of Continuing Education diploma or certificate programs are eligible for this award.
Sitting politicians, current faculty, staff, and current members of the Board of Regents and the Alumni Council are ineligible for this award. There are no provisions for a group award or a posthumous award.
The Alumni Council presents a maximum of one Distinguished Alumni Award at each Convocation (Spring and Fall) of The University of Winnipeg. The recipient must be present to receive the award. The Award recipient will also have his or her photo and award statement added to the Distinguished Alumni Award wall in Manitoba Hall.
Each nomination must include a completed nomination form in addition to two letters of reference. Each letter must be no longer than one page. Nominations will be held on file for two years. The deadline for nominations for this year’s award is March 31, 2010.
