Shawna Holm took 3RD place in the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) Frontline Risk & Crisis Communications Student Competition

WINNIPEG, MB – Shawna Holm – a recent graduate of the Public Relations Program at UWinnipeg’s Division of Continuing Education (DCE) – took 3RD place in the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) Frontline Risk & Crisis Communications Student Competition, June 19.

Holm, who completed the full-time Public Relations Diploma Program offered through DCE’s Professional Studies Area on August 3, 2007, won the honor based on her entry, “Careway Bus Line Crisis Case”. The entry by Holm was the first ever by a DCE student into this competition.

“The Frontline Risk & Crisis Communication is a national competition with entries from all of the leading public relations and communications programs across Canada,” said Colleen Little, coordinator of DCE’s public relations program. “This first-time success speaks to the quality of our Professional Studies programs and to the caliber of student the University attracts.”

Established by DCE in September 2002, the full-time public relations program is a comprehensive blend of public relations theory, best practice and real-world skill development – all of which prepares its graduates to work in the corporate, not-for-profit and government sectors.

Frontline Corporate Communications established the award to recognize student excellence in the field of public relations with a focus on risk and crisis communication research. The Frontline student award attracts entries from all major university and colleges across Canada and winners receive a cash prize.
