On Friday, August 10, a group of 25 children in grades 1-3 graduated from this summer’s first session of Indigenous Math Leadership Camp at UWinnipeg’s Wii Chiiwaakanak Learning Centre.
The two-week camp is offered for free to community youth and is designed to help increase mathematical literacy while also engaging Indigenous culture. Student activities include math lessons and computer coding along with Anishinaabe cultural learning and field trips.
A second two-week session, for children in grades 4-6, runs from August 13-24.
