The University of Winnipeg recently celebrated the success of student recipients of Natural Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC) Undergraduate Student Research Awards.

The recipients for 2004 were invited to a lunchtime celebration where they provided a brief presentation of their research projects and experience gained thanks to funding granted by NSERC in partnership with The University of Winnipeg.

Last spring and summer, NSERC provided 17 UWinnipeg undergraduates-in the departments of Applied Computer Science & Administrative Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics & Statistics, Physics, and Psychology-with research awards.

Each of the students credited and thanked their supervising professor with providing the necessary guidance and support for research success and for the invaluable experience.

The NSERC program is highly competitive, and applications are due annually in October. The University of Winnipeg Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) Committee, comprised of representatives of all departments eligible to provide supervision to USRA candidates, processes applications to the program.
