Sugar and Splice: a feminist film festival features thought-provoking feature films, documentaries, and short films that will challenge stereotypes and stimulate discussion. Organized by current and former University of Winnipeg students, a Women’s Studies instructor, and an independent filmmaker, it runs from May 28 to May 30 at Cinematheque.
Sugar and Splice also presents a hands-on Women’s Beginner Filmmaking Workshop from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30 at The University of Winnipeg Theatre Department, 400 Colony St.

Sugar and Splice presents the following films:
- Jaynelle, a documentary on the life of a young aboriginal woman by local filmmaker Coleen Rajotte (Friday, May 28, 7:00 p.m.)
- Back to God’s Country by Nell Shipman (Saturday, May 29, 7:00 p.m.)
- Act a Little Crazy (Saturday, May 29, 9:00 p.m.)
- Blaxploitation classic Foxy Brown (Saturday, May 29, 11:00 p.m.)
- Sugar + Splice Shorts (Sunday, May 30, 7:00 p.m.)
