Through her research, UWinnipeg professor, Dr. Sara Good, hopes she can help protect Canada’s fisheries from a devastating invasive species.
Throughout the year, we share many stories celebrating the achievements of women in science. We are proud to highlight stories of students and faculty members like Cassidy Lamirande, Gracie Grift, Dr. Sara Good, Monalisa Abas, and Dr. Sanoji Wijenayake, all of whom are doing incredible work in the field.
University of Winnipeg researchers received funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada that will enable $1,462,500 in research projects.
Biology professor Dr. Sara Good is senior author on a recent paper which could have significant impact on reducing the sea lamprey population which has damaged freshwater fisheries in the upper Great Lakes.
UWinnipeg biologist Dr. Sara Good, alum Dr. Sergey Yegorov (the first author), and Postdoctoral Fellow Dr. Dmitriy Babenko, have co-written a paper with an international team of researchers that is published in The Lancet Regional Health - Europe.
