Dr. Denton obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at The University of Winnipeg in 1980, majoring in English and History. Dr. Denton is currently Associate Professor of History and Regional Coordinator (Manitoba) for the Division of Continuing Studies at the Royal Military College of Canada, where he also teaches in the War Studies graduate program. He is an instructor in Technical Communications and Ethics at Red River College, and teaches ethics by distance education for the Philosophy department at the University of Manitoba.
He is a Research Fellow of the Centre for Defence and Security Studies and a Research Associate of the Centre for Professional and Applied Ethics at the University of Manitoba; a Research Affiliate of the Prairie Metropolis Centre at the University of Alberta; and Honourary Historian of the Royal Military Institute of Manitoba. He is also a member of the Order of Ministry of the United Church of Canada.
While he has taught and published in a wide variety of areas, his primary interest has been in the social and cultural dimensions of science and technology. The current focus of Denton’s research and writing is on the philosophy of technology and its application to contemporary global issues, including environmental sustainability; social responsibility; and technology and warfare.
