The Department of Geography presents a lecture entitled The art of predicting blue-green algal blooms; A nostalgic look back given by UWinnipeg President and Vice-Chancellor and biologist Dr. Annette Trimbee on Wednesday, March 18, 12:30 – 1:30 pm in 5L24, Lockhart Hall. This lecture is free and open to all. It includes lunch courtesy of the Geography and Environmental Students Association (GESA).
This lecture is part of the 2014-15 Water Series presented by the Department of Geography and the Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences.
Dr. Annette Trimbee received her PhD from McMaster University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship from the University of Alberta. Her research focused on lake nutrient dynamics and challenged current thinking on the relative influence of nitrogen and phosphorous on lake trophic status and algal population dynamics. With a desire to influence water public policy, Trimbee moved to public service. As a public servant, her interests broadened from water to environmental assessment to integrated resource planning, strategic planning and public policy in general, including health, advanced education, innovation and leadership development.
