After a dominant regular season, the Wesmen men’s basketball team is set to host a Canada West quarter-final game at the Duckworth Centre. On Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m., the team will face the winner of Friday’s matchup between the University of Calgary Dinos and the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack.
UWinnipeg finished the regular season with an impressive 16-4 record, earning the No. 1 seed heading into the conference playoffs. As the top seed, the Wesmen will enjoy home-court advantage throughout the Canada West postseason, including the championship game, as long as they continue to advance.
The team’s impressive 16-4 conference record matches last season’s mark and stands as the best record in program history. The Wesmen finished conference and non-conference play with a 24-4 record against U Sports opponents, repeating the success of last year’s 24-win season.
Everyone—students, faculty, staff, and community members—are encouraged to come out to this Saturday’s playoff game to Rep the W in support of the Wesmen! Tickets are $10 for adults, and UWinnipeg students can receive free admission by showing their student card.
