The University of Winnipeg community extends heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends of the estimated 155,000 victims of the December 26, 2004 earthquake and tsunami.
The University’s Global College & Dialogue Centre hosted a Tsunami Remembrance Friday, January 7 in Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall.
Gordon MacDermid, Dean of Theology, Lloyd Axworthy, President, & Dr. Rey Pagtakhan, Chair of the President’s Honorary Advisory Council of the Global College & Dialogue Centre, and Sierra Noble, local musician and activist– together with three University of Winnipeg students from Tsunami-affected countries–led the University community through a time of remembrance and reflection.
Representatives from a number of relief organizations were on hand to share information and accept donations of behalf of the relief efforts.
