Upcoming News Conference Low Income Rental Accommodations: New Guide Urges TLC

WINNIPEG—Winnipeg-Tenants and landlords are often characterized as warring factions – particularly in Winnipeg’s inner-city neighbourhoods.

On Thursday, October 9, members of Winnipeg’s media are invited to take in the release of a guide that will foster closer working relationships and understanding between landlords and tenants, primarily from low income neighbourhoods.

Despite its long title, the Tenant and Landlord Cooperation (TLC): Guide to Good Management of Inner City Buildings for Landlords and Tenants (or TLC Guide) is a no-nonsense, easy-to-read booklet offering practical suggestions to encourage tenants & landlords to work cooperatively for the betterment of both parties.

With government funds being funneled through neighbourhood housing groups, there is an increasingly strong need for communities and government to learn to work together in partnership. The TLC Guide is an attempt to provide some much-needed infrastructure for these emerging partnerships.
