There was some localized flooding at the RecPlex construction site, the result of a water main break that occurred around mid-morning on Thursday, February 21,2013.
Upon learning of the situation, the City of Winnipeg shut down the main. This affected some homes on Young Street and an area restaurant. Water service was restored at 2 pm on Thursday afternoon.
The flooding area is self-contained and has not had any effect on university or surrounding campus buildings. This has caused one day delay in piling work at the RecPlex.
Construction crews are pumping water out and it is anticipated piling work can resume tomorrow, Friday.
The RecPlex construction site is secured by fencing and the University has additional security on site monitoring the entrance gates.
