- Tribune gargoyle mystery unveiled (Metro, 2/6/2013) Manitoba Museum curator of history, Dr. Roland Sawatzky (BA4 93) is on the trail of a local mystery. Intrigued by a gargoyle recently donated to the museum, he began digging through the museum’s two-million artifacts and found a matching one.
- Winnipeg Teacher honoured with medal (CBC News, 2/6/2013) Timmy Sharma (BED 94) received the Diamond Jubilee medal from Governor General David Johnston at Rideau Hall, for her dedication to teaching and community service.
- Kofi Annan’s Advice to the UN (Huffington Post, 2/21/2013) in his role as a regular contributor, Dr. Axworthy (BA 61, LLD 98) blogs about being part of a distinguished crowd of current and former diplomats, foundation heads, scholars, leaders, and philanthropists, all gathered to pay tribute to Mr. Annan, former UN Secretary-General and voice for peacemakers in a world of strife.
- Haitian quake survivors graduate (CBC News, 2/1/2013) The University of Winnipeg held a special graduation ceremony Friday for four Haitian students who survived a devastating earthquake. Several of the students survived being buried in rubble, and they all lost friends, family and professors in the quake.
