The University of Winnipeg and the University of Winnipeg Faculty Association (UWFA) have successfully ratified a new collective agreement. The agreement, which applies to the University’s 340 regular academic staff, will be in effect until March 2027.

“Thank you to each member of our faculty community, as well as to the members of both bargaining teams, for a productive and collegial bargaining process,” said Dr. Todd Mondor, President and Vice-Chancellor. “With this agreement in place, we can continue working together to support students and strengthen communities through quality education.”

The bargaining process began in fall 2023, and the UWFA membership voted in favour of the agreement on March 7. “I would like to thank the UWFA bargaining team—Janis Thiessen, Carlos Colorado, Stefan Dodds, and Lisa McGifford—for the months of hard work spent negotiating this agreement,” said Dr. Peter Miller, President, University of Winnipeg Faculty Association.

Dr. Pavlina Radia, Provost and Vice-President, Academic, expressed her appreciation for the University’s culture of collaborative community engagement. “I would like to thank our faculty, UWFA, and both bargaining teams for their commitment to fostering collegial relations through the bargaining process and for their dedication to our community,” she said. “UWinnipeg thrives because of our collegial relations and collective care for students, faculty, staff, and the Winnipeg community at large.”

Once finalized, the collective agreement will be posted on the University website. This is the sixth collective agreement that has been successfully negotiated at the University in the past two years.
