The University of Winnipeg Research Office, along with the Library and representatives from the student body, staff, and faculty, have teamed up to host an expanded lineup of Research Week events from November 14-17.
Research Week is open to students, staff, faculty, and the wider community. Its events are designed to create opportunities for a broad range of researchers to connect with each other, students, faculty, and potential funding partners.
The intent this year is to broaden the appeal to ensure that faculty and students have a range of activities to engage.

A wide variety of events are planned, including workshops, panel discussions, film screenings, and more, with a fourth day added to fit everything in.
Session topics were chosen to be relevant to researchers at every career stage, and to equip attendees with the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to excel in rapidly evolving research environments in a variety of disciplines.
Whether you need to brush up on your research skills, expand your professional network, get up to speed on current research happening at UWinnipeg, work through a research roadblock, or share what you’ve learned along your research journey, there is a session for you.
“We are excited to once again bring a mix of events that showcase research excellence and innovation at UWinnipeg,” said Dr. Jino Distasio, Vice-President of Research and Innovation. “The intent this year is to broaden the appeal to ensure that faculty and students have a range of activities to engage.”
Events include a focus on communication and media skills, research ethics, community-based research, and how to combat imposter syndrome.
Three fun evening events are planned on the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday night, in partnership with UWinnipeg’s Theatre and Film department.
Friday will culminate in a special film screening and panel discussion exploring the intersection of disability justice and climate change. Guided small-group conversations will follow for those wanting to dive deeper into these important topics.
“I’m especially excited about this event because it is so timely,” said Rachel Keijzer, Research Office Program Officer, Natural Sciences Research. “Climate change adaptation is urgently needed and the disability justice community has incredible expertise in adaptation, so this conversation promises to be so fruitful.”
All events take place in Room 2M70 unless otherwise stated. Registration is appreciated.
