On Thursday, November 16, The University of Winnipeg Golden Key Chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society held its fifth annual new member recognition event. Students, faculty, friends, and family members gathered to recognize and congratulate the new student inductees on their academic excellence.

Two new honorary members, both from UWinnipeg, were also recognized: Dr. Danny Blair, Professor of Geography, and Colin Russell, University Registrar and faculty member. Both were chosen from outstanding faculty, administrators, or community leaders who have excelled in their profession, research, teaching, or service, and exemplify the three Golden Key pillars — academics, service, and leadership.

The Chapter announced it will continue to volunteer with Canadian Blood Services, Newcomers Employment Education Development Services, Siloam Mission, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg. It has also formed a new partnership with Let’s Talk Science at UWinnipeg, a program that allows educators and student volunteers to share their knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with young people through free workshops.
