UWinnipeg Grad “Top 40 Under 40” Award Winner

Surgeon And Researcher Dr. Sam Wiseman Honoured

WINNIPEG, MB – University of Winnipeg graduate Dr. Sam Wiseman has been singled out as a prominent up-and-coming Canadian, snagging the prestigious Top 40 Under 40 award, which includes recognition in the national Globe and Mail newspaper.

The 38-eightyearold Wiseman is a surgical oncologist, endocrine surgeon, head and neck surgeon and general surgeon with St. Paul’s Hospital, Providence Health Care and the University of British Columbia, and is now based in Vancouver.

Wiseman graduated from UWinnipeg’s high school on campus, the Collegiate and went on to earn his BSc in Biology at UWinnipeg in 1991. Dr. Wiseman is the son of pediatric surgeon Nathan Wiseman and Winnipeg writer of historical fiction for young people Eva Wiseman.

Douglas Caldwell, chairman of Caldwell Partners International Inc. founded Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 awards in 1995 to celebrate the achievements of Canadians in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors who were under the age of 40.

The 26 members of an independent advisory board choose the honorees from about 1,200 nominees through a selection process based on five criteria: vision and leadership, innovation and achievement, impact, growth and development strategy, and community involvement and contribution.

The University of Winnipeg congratulates Dr. Sam Wiseman for his many achievements, including the Top 40 Under 40 award.
