WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg ranks 8th overall in Canada among primarily undergraduate universities – an increase of one spot from the past two years – in the Annual Maclean’s Ranking of Canadian Universities released today. UWinnipeg placed in the Top-10 nationally in several categories. Among the ranking increases, UWinnipeg placed third in the student services category (up from 7th last year.)
The Maclean’s survey highlights once again the University’s high satisfaction rates among its students, as UWinnipeg placed 1st in Western Canada and 6th overall in Canada in the reputational survey category.
“We are pleased that we rank once again among Canada’s best universities,” said UWinnipeg President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lloyd Axworthy. “The commitment we made several years ago to improving student services is now starting to show in these rankings. The impact of our new initiatives – such as the McFeetors Hall: Great-West Life student residence, the UWSA Day Care and our Diversity Food Services – means that we will likely maintain or increase in this category in future years.”
Today’s results come on the heels of The Globe & Mail Canadian University Report 2010, released on October 22, 2009, where UWinnipeg ranked 1st or 2nd in 10 important categories including class sizes (1st), environmental commitment (1st), quality of education, recreation & athletics, quality of teaching, student-faculty interaction and most satisfied students.
