A number of members from The University of Winnipeg’s Department of Theatre and Film have been nominated for awards at The EVIES, which celebrates excellence in Winnipeg’s theatre arts. This includes staff, faculty, and several UWinnipeg graduates.
UWinnipeg is proud to have nine individuals nominated, with winners being announced on November 4.
UWinnipeg also has two wins — theatre and film’s office manager and student advisor, Melinda Tallin, will be receiving the Behind the Scenes Award for her tremendous contribution to the Winnipeg theatre community through her work at Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre (RMTC), and her ongoing and invaluable impact on future theatre practitioners here at the Department of Theatre and Film. Another winner is Kayla Gordon, who is receiving an Honourary Theatre Educator Award.
“The people who make up the staff and the faculty of the Department of Theatre and Film are working practitioners of the arts and crafts they teach,” said Christopher Brauer, Chair. “We are incredibly proud to see them honoured with so many nominations and awards. And we are thrilled that our graduates now make up such a vital part of the theatre and film industry here in Manitoba, and we applaud them for this recognition of their work and talent.”
