WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg is actively seeking graduates who have made a difference for the 2011 University of Winnipeg Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award. UWinnipeg’s Alumni Association honours alumni for outstanding contributions to their professions or their communities. Established in 1990, the award is the Alumni Association’s highest tribute.
Graduates of The University of Winnipeg, United College, Wesley College, and The University of Winnipeg Division of Continuing Education diploma or certificate programs are eligible.
Sitting politicians, current faculty, staff, and current members of the Board of Regents and the Alumni Council are ineligible for this award. There are no provisions for a group award or a posthumous award.
The Alumni Council presents one Distinguished Alumni Award at each UWinnipeg Convocation (Spring and Fall). The recipient must be present to receive the award. The Award recipient will also have his or her photo and award statement added to the Distinguished Alumni Award wall in Manitoba Hall.
Each nomination must include a completed nomination form in addition to two letters of reference. The deadline for nominations for this year’s award is Thursday, March 31, 2011.
