WINNIPEG, MB – The Rest of the Rabbit is an original eight-person ensemble piece exploring fate, destiny, chance and choice as defining elements in the shaping of human experience. The Rest of the Rabbit performance piece has been conceived and developed collaboratively by members of the fourth-year Honours Devised Theatre class and directed by Claire Borody. The production runs from March 21-24, 2018 at the UWinnipeg’s Asper Centre for Theatre and Film, 400 Colony Street.
“Notions of fate and destiny have been part of the human condition throughout the ages,” shares Borody. “The Rest of the Rabbit examines questions and issues relating to the ways in which destiny, fate, chance and choice shape not only our immediate experiences but future events as well.”
The title of the performance piece was generated by members of the ensemble: “When thinking about one’s destiny, it is easy to get stuck in the cliché. An image of a crystal ball, an old woman in a tent, a lucky rabbit’s foot. The rest of the rabbit is the world beyond the cliché. A look at the dark, wounded, and weird world beyond the black and white notion of lucky and unlucky. A rabbit’s paw is a token of good luck for whomever holds it, but try telling that to the rabbit!”

The ensemble montage is influenced and inspired by a range of sources such as dance, literature, film, music, visual and plastic arts, as well as popular culture and journalism.
The Rest of the Rabbit runs Wednesday, March 21 through Friday, March 23 at 8:00pm and on Saturday, March 24 at 7:00pm.
