UWinnipeg to raise Ukraine’s flag on campus

Today — Friday, February 24 — is the one-year anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. To show our continued support for Ukraine and its people, The University of Winnipeg will fly Ukraine’s flag on campus for the duration of the day.

Also in support of Ukraine, The University of Winnipeg Ukrainian Students’ Association is partnering with local businesses as part of their ongoing ribbon campaign. Since its launch last year, nearly $9,000 has been raised, all of which has been sent directly to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation.

Last year, in memory of the late Vasyl (Bill) Balan and in recognition of his tremendous legacy, UWinnipeg established the Vasyl (Bill) Balan International Students from Ukraine Bursary. Six students received support this academic year, ranging from $500 to $5,000.
