UWinnipeg welcomes hundreds of students at 2019 Open House

Hundreds of high school students, teachers and parents from across the city attended UWinnipeg’s 2019 Open House on Wednesday, February 20, 2019.

A series of faculty introductions, campus tours and an information fair gave prospective students a chance to have their questions answered and learn more about the UWinnipeg experience directly from current students, faculty and staff. A fun, interactive augmented reality sandbox demonstration was captured by CTV News.

The information fair, held in the Dr. David F. Anderson Gymnasium, allowed students to visit department and program booths and speak to professors, current students and staff about degree programs and courses offered. They could also visit Student Services booths to learn about scholarships, financial aid, special needs, student housing and more.

Throughout the day, faculty gave presentations providing prospective students a quick preview of UWinnipeg’s offerings in Education, Science, Arts, Kinesiology and Applied Health, Business and Economics, and Global College. Campus tours gave students an opportunity to have a more in-depth look at the campus, including an inside look at UWinnipeg’s Asper Centre for Theatre and Film, Aboriginal Student Services Centre, Bill Wedlake Fitness Centre, Library and Archives, Prairie Climate Centre and more.
