WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg and its marketing partner Direct Focus Marketing Communications have won a prestigious international award for its YOUofW recruitment videos, selected from more than 2,200 entries. The 15-second and two-minute videos earned Platinum Honors at the AVA Awards in the Commercial / Retail Category for creative excellence in audio-visual productions.

“We feel very proud to be recognized with this international honour,” said Shawn Coates, UWinnipeg Director of Marketing & Communications. “The YOUofW campaign developed in conjunction with Direct Focus is a professional, first-class program that reflects the excellence of our faculty, staff and students. The video – which was shown in movie theatres and on websites – is energetic, youthful and upbeat, much like our students.”
The International AVA Awards, which are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), recognize outstanding work by creative professionals involved in the concept, writing, direction, shooting and editing of audio-visual materials and programs. The competition drew more than 2,200 entries from video and film producers, advertising agencies and communications departments from around the world.
Generating Awareness
