Recently, The University of Winnipeg Golden Key Chapter (UW-GK) of the Golden Key International Honour Society held its fourth annual New Member Recognition Event. Students, faculty members, friends, and family members gathered to recognize and congratulate the new inductees on their academic excellence.
This event also recognized two new honorary members: Kevin Lamoureux, Associate Vice-President of Indigenous Affairs for The University of Winnipeg and Robert Silver, Chancellor of The University of Winnipeg. These individuals were chosen from outstanding faculty, administrators, or community leaders who have excelled in their profession, research, teaching, or service and exemplify the three Golden Key pillars—Academics , Service, and Leadership.
This year, the Chapter will continue to volunteer with Canadian Blood Services, the Newcomers Education and Employment Development Services Centre, Siloam Mission, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg. In addition to volunteering, as one of its service initiatives, the UW-GK Chapter collected non-perishable goods for the UWSA Food Bank.
The UW-GK has also partnered with The Princeton Review, which offers discounts on MCAT and LSAT exams and offers seminars to all University of Winnipeg students.
Since its inception at UWinnipeg, the Chapter has grown significantly. The Executive Committee members include President, Francine Laurin; Executive VP, Vaman Muhamed; VP Finance, Evan Podaima; VP Records, Camila Navarro; VP Communications, Patricia Joven; VP Events and VP Marketing, Ruth Dickinson; Directors of Events, Angela Daet and Carson McFeetors; Directors of Marketing, Philipp Graeff and YuQi Wu; Director of Communications, Travis Sidak; and Past President, Jason Yang.
