Violence And Abuse In Sport

UWinnipeg to play host to public discussion

WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg’s Kinesiology Students Association has organized a discussion open to the public entitled “Violence and Abuse in Sport”. It will take place on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in Manitoba Hall, Room 4M47, from 7:15-8.45pm. Panelists will also take prepared questions from the audience.

Panelists

Dr. Sandra Kirby, Vice-President (Research), Dean of Graduate Studies, Chair of the Department of Sociology, former Olympic rower and co-author of “The Dome of Silence; Sexual Harassment and Abuse in Sport”.

Ben Trunzo, CATA(C), BA., B.P.E, M.Sc, Certified EMR/First Responder Instructor, Athletic Therapist and faculty member of the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Health.

Leah Hextall, sports anchor and reporter for CTV Winnipeg, and The Sports Network (TSN).

Mitch Peacock, sports anchor and reporter, CBC News at Six.

Dave Wheeler, radio host for Power 97 and announcer for the Manitoba Moose and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Everyone is welcome. Admission is free.
