Wesmen continue historic playoff push

This is a huge week for the University of Winnipeg Wesmen men’s basketball and women’s volleyball teams.

The men’s basketball team is one win away from making history for the University of Winnipeg. For the first time in program history, the team will play for a Canada West conference championship on Friday (9 p.m. CT) when they travel to Victoria to take on the host Vikes. It is the first conference title of any Wesmen team will compete for since 1994-95. Read the full story.

With a five-set win over the Fraser Valley Cascades on Sunday, the Wesmen women’s volleyball team qualified for the Canada West Final Four, the first time since 2011-12 the Wesmen have been among the last four teams standing in the conference playoffs. The Wesmen will open a best-of-three semifinal series with the Trinity Western Spartans Thursday (8 p.m. CT) in Langley, B.C. Read the full story.
