WINNIPEG, MB – Dr. Cornel West, inaugural speaker in the Axworthy Distinguished Lecture Series on Social Justice, will be on campus May 8.

Dr. West is a professor at Union Theological Seminary in New York and has held prestigious positions at Princeton, Yale, Harvard and the University of Paris. He is best known for his classic Race Matters, Democracy Matters, and his recent memoir, Brother West: Living and Loving Out Loud. He also appears frequently on Real Time with Bill Maher, The Colbert Report, CNN, C-Span, and PBS.
Aligning with UWinnipeg’s commitment to accessibility, this stimulating lecture series is free of charge and open to the public. All costs related to the series are covered by charitable donations and public support is needed to continue bringing in front-ranking scholars and world-renowned activists like Dr. West, as well as our second lecturer, Dr. Jane Goodall who will be speaking in September 2015.
