Winnipeg Celebrates First-Ever African Fest, June 11

The African Communities of Manitoba Inc is organizing, for the first time in Manitoba, an African Fest to be celebrated on June 11, 2005 at The University of Winnipeg. The African Fest is meant to serve as an opportunity for Manitobans of African descent to share with other Canadians some common themes that Africans are concerned and care about most.

To demonstrate the importance of the African Fest, there will be African High Commissioners and Ambassadors from Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, and Ghana in attendance who will be part of the panel that will discuss issues such as conflict resolution, HIV/AIDS, the state of democracy in Africa, and business opportunities in Africa. The event will begin with a profiling of Manitoba African entrepreneurial businesses in the morning, followed by a panel discussion in late afternoon and end with cultural presentations in the evening.
