Roya Rahmani
On Tuesday, May 9, 2006, Afghan-Canadian women’s rights advocate Roya Rahmani will speak on the role of women in present-day Afghanistan–both the progress and the failures of the post-Taliban nation. Under the Taliban, the rights and freedoms of women in Afghanistan were strictly curtailed. Several years have now passed since the 2001 collapse of the Taliban regime but has anything changed for the women of Afghanistan? Are the promises of equal rights and equal opportunities being met? Roya Rahmani will explore these issues at a free public lecture:
