Homecoming Concludes with Presidents’ Brunch

WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg’s 40th Anniversary Homecoming & Reunion Weekend concluded today with the Presidents’ Brunch, which recognized contributions of past presidents and alumni, and included generous gift giving.

UWinnipeg President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lloyd Axworthy spoke at the event as did former presidents Dr. Marsha Hanen (1989-1999), Dr. Robin H. Farquhar (1981-1989) and Dr. Henry E. Duckworth (1971-1981).

Dr. Hanen announced a gift of $200,000 to establish The University of Winnipeg Marsha Hanen Global Dialogue and Ethics Program.

A portrait of former UWinnipeg President & Vice-Chancellor Constance Rooke (1999-2002) was also unveiled at the brunch. Her portrait will soon join the other presidential portraits that drape the newly renovated Convocation Hall.

Alumna Charlotte Caron bestowed her great uncle William J. Rose’s graduation medal upon the University. Rose graduated from Wesley Hall in 1905 and was the University’s first Rhodes Scholar. This gifted medal will be hung in Convocation Hall.
