October is 2SLGBTQ+ History Month, an opportunity to celebrate and deepen our knowledge of the history, contributions, and courage of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and communities.
Since 2018, UWinnipeg has provided a $500 scholarship for students who identify as members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Campus events like Pride Week also demonstrate and advance 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion.
The Human Rights and Diversity Office actively supports equal opportunity, equity, social justice, mutual respect, diversity, and the dignity of all people working and learning on campus.
UWinnipeg’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Hub is an online source for institutional strategies, data, news, services, training, and resources pertaining to EDI, anti-racism, and decolonization.
The Bulman Student Centre is home to the UWSA’s Rainbow Lounge, a safe space and resource library open to all students with an inclusive view of sexuality and gender diversity.
Student groups also provide support and advocacy. The Queer Student Association (QSA) strives to create a safe and welcoming online and on-campus space for all 2SLGBTQ+ identifying students and trusted allies.
UWinnipeg is also home to the Two-Spirit Archives, an internationally-renowned centre for research that chronicles the Indigenous Two-Spirit movement in Manitoba and throughout North America.
