UWinnipeg hosts public fundraiser for Pakistan flood victims

Pakistan has been struck by the worst flooding in its history. Nearly half the country is underwater, 1700 people have died, one million homes destroyed and up to 30 million people have been affected – that is more than the combined total of the 2004 Tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir and 2010 Haiti earthquakes.

Who: The Canadian Muslim Leadership Institute (CMLI) is a community leadership development initiative for and by the Muslim community in Canada.

What: In solidarity with the flood victims of Pakistan, CMLI has organized a “Fast for the Flood”. Whether you are fasting or not, come and share in our feast. Donate $20 at the door and enjoy an ethnic vegetarian feast, prizes, spoken word, live music, entertainment, and cultural displays.

When: Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Where: Riddell Hall, University of Winnipeg
515 Portage Avenue

All donations will go to the flood victims and are tax deductible with receipts issued by the Islamic Social Services Association. For more information contact (204) 944-1560
