UWinnipeg seeks men’s basketball head coach

MEN’S BASKETBALL HEAD COACH & DIRECTOR, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach and Program Director will be responsible for distinct but related functions: the organization and operation of the Men’s Basketball Program including the recruitment, retention and support of the academic success of student athletes. In addition, the Head Coach will ensure compliance with CIS rules and regulations. This position will also play a key role in promoting, fundraising, and marketing of the program to the Alumni and the community. The successful candidate will fully embrace the beliefs and work of the University of Winnipeg President’s Task Force on Athletics and Academics, especially as they relate to youth programming and inner-city and community work.

The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; a Master’s degree is considered an asset. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years coaching experience, preferably at the CIS or equivalent level. Evidence of involvement in developmental sport programs and a demonstrated understanding of the urban and inner-city community will also be considered assets. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build develop, establish, and maintain effective relationships within the University, the UW Collegiate, and the community, are also assets.
