UWinnipeg writers win at 2013 Manitoba Book Awards

WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg would like to congratulate all the winners of the 2013 Manitoba Book Awards with special mention to UWinnipeg’s winners. The awards were given out last night at an event to highlight the authors and their books at the West End Cultural Centre.

Of six UWinnipeg writers nominated for 2013 Manitoba Book Awards, four came away with awards, including Larry Morrisette and Jim Silver from the Department of Urban and Inner City Studies.

“On behalf of the Faculty of Arts, I’d like to congratulate all our Manitoba Book Award recipients,“ said Dr. Glenn Moulaison, Dean of Arts.  “We are very pleased to see the excellence of such contributions to the artistic and intellectual life of our province gain this well-deserved recognition.”

* Stephen Borys is a UWinnipeg Adjunct Professor, Art History+ Director + CEO of Winnipeg Art Gallery.  Borys teaches in UWinnipeg’s Masters in Cultural Studies: Curatorial Practices. Collaborator Andrew Kear teaches undergraduate students History of Canadian Art at UWinnipeg.
