The UWPG Film Festival is now accepting submissions until September 23.

The annual student film festival, which has taken place since 2002, has showcased the work of post-secondary filmmakers from across Canada. The UWPG Film Festival’s mission is to provide a stepping stone for student filmmakers to expose themselves to the greater industry outside of their post-secondary institutions and celebrate new, emerging filmmakers.

This year’s festival, which is free to attend, takes place October 19 – 22.

Returning to an in-person celebration

Organizers are working with the support of The University of Winnipeg’s Department of Theatre and Film to bring back the festival for in-person screenings and panels, while also continuing to offer each other, the students, and community a live-stream option of the programs for all around the world to view.

If you are a filmmaker, you’re encouraged to submit your film online at This year, more than any other year, is an opportunity to have your film seen back in front of a live audience. If you’re a viewer online, films will be made available to view via YouTube live!
