Don’t miss the 2025 edition of our city’s longest-running holiday sports tradition, The University of Winnipeg Wesmen Classic!
The Wesmen Classic will return to the Duckworth Centre, December 28-30, featuring a showdown in women’s volleyball. This will be the second time the women’s volleyball team will play in the Classic’s 58-year history.
Eight teams from around Canada will be in attendance, making it a truly nationwide affair. In addition to four Manitoba teams — University of Winnipeg Wesmen, University of Manitoba Bison, Canadian Mennonite University Blazers and Brandon University Bobcats — the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees, Lakehead University Thunderwolves, Acadia University Axewomen and MacEwan University Griffins will make the trip to compete in the classic.
The first two days will have eight games running on two courts, with the final championship game held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30.
You can view the tournament schedule and purchase tickets on the Wesmen Classic website.
UWinnipeg students, as with all Wesmen events at the Duckworth Centre, can attend for free.
Throughout the tournament, Wesmen Athletics will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items for Manitoba Harvest. Bins will be placed near the admissions desk on the second floor of the Duckworth Centre.
