Academic Accommodation For Student Voting

The UWinnipeg Senate has passed a motion authorizing academic accommodation for students whose schedule of classes does not give them sufficient time to vote on October 19 in the federal election. Voting takes place between 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on that day.  If a student’s schedule of classes and/or labs does not allow a sufficient time at either the beginning or end of that period, or a three-hour break during it, in order to attend her/his designated polling station to vote, a student can present a copy of  the schedule to one or more of her/his instructors as necessary.

Accommodation will be arranged as follows:

1.       Alternate day and time to write a test scheduled on October 19; and/or

2.       Alternate means of submission of an assignment due on October 19; and/or

3.       No loss of participation or attendance marks for class missed on October 19.

Students must present their schedule to instructor(s) and make the request by October 9, five working days prior to October 19, in order to be allowed the accommodation.
